The roots of the BLESS App reach back to 1997, when Chris and Karen Cooper founded the Mapping Center for Evangelism and Church Growth. Their conviction was simple and enduring: if followers of Jesus could see their neighbors by name, they would pray for them, and if they prayed, then they would go to them. In the years that followed, more than 18,000 churches across all 50 states and many denominations used the Mapping Center to pray for and share the gospel with millions of homes.

It was first articulated by Dave and John Ferguson in their work on neighboring and evangelism, and the platform gave ordinary believers, a simple, practical way to love the people God had already placed nearest to them.
